using character map would be pretty simple (in accessories under system tools) That is assuming you are using windows. I believe Mac has something similar.

Use the ascii chart. Basically, press Alt and then some numbers on the keypad.

For example, pressing 'alt 2 5 1' will give you √
alt 228 gives you Σ
alt 241 is ±
etc...
there are 255 such character's, from 1 to 255.☺
For the list, google it.

I use efofex software. It allows all symbols and draws all figures.
