post offices are closed and there is no regular delivery of mail on these federal holidays:
2007 Holiday Closing Schedule:
Monday, January 1 - New Year's Day
Monday, January 15 - Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday *
Monday, February 19 - Washington's Birthday (President's Day)
Monday, May 28 - Memorial Day
Wednesday, July 4 - Independence Day
Monday, September 3 - Labor Day
Monday, October 8 - Columbus Day
Monday, November 12 - Veterans Day
Thursday, November 22 - Thanksgiving Day
Tuesday, December 25 - Christmas Day
Tuesday, January 1, 2008 - New Year's Day

however, express mail is delivered 365 days a year, including christmas day.

Again, NO. Federal Holiday, also all banks, libraries, lawyers, etc. offices are closed. Just about anybody who is in the capacity of Police, firefighter, Hospital or med workers or unfortunately retail (for obvious reasons) are all most likely working.
Of course, you can always check your local newspaper, they should have a listing of everyone closed.

Yep, apparently no mail today. I'm expecting a phone, and it's in the nest town over! Ugh, at least I'll get it tomorrow. You'll get your glasses then too!
