Be true! Be true! Be true! Show freely to the world, if not your worst, yet some trait whereby the worst may be inferred.

This is one of the morals in the Scarlet letter. To me, it means that we need to confess our sins to people otherwise it becomes a secret that eats away at us.

What does it mean to you? What kind of analysis could you give for it?

To be honest - not hypocritical. To not only know that we have faults, but to also admit as much to others.

Think about the characters in the story; which ones were true to themselves?
Chillingsworth was not - observe his fate.
Hester was.

I think it means be honest, be true to yourself and who you are, despite what/how others may see you or think of you
