I'm a girl and I really don't care for them. Am I weird or something? LOL I just don't find them awesome like other girls do. I guess it's nice as a wedding ring but I really don't find the point in buying something that is incredibly expensive that you can lose. That's just me. I personally find the add that says, A Diamond is Forever, really superficial. Does this mean that a woman won't be happy unless her boyfriend can't buy her expensive and unecessary jewelery? I don't need those kinds of things to be happy. Jeez, some people really need to learn that.

Oh and the Diamonds are a girls best friend ad, is really stupid. So, the diamond is more important than the one who gave it to her??? I just think it's stupid. Don't get me wrong, it's nice when a guy proposes to you and gives you something like that but do you really need more than one?

Trust me, I'm old enough to like diamonds. I just don't go GAGA for them. THis is to the person that said i was gonna like them when i was older.

I think its stupid they are just a piece of rock I wouldn't mind a nice engagement ring though but that's something to symbolize your love for each other...I think they are way over priced id rather have a new wardrobe or go on a family vacation than have a stupid ring or bracelet that knowing me i would lose!!

I use to believe what you do. My first husband did not buy me a ring. He was a student, and it was no big deal. But it was the first of many indications that he did not consider a wife to
be of any great value. I ended up paying for my kids,(NO child support,) college and all.
Got married the second time. He put a 3 carats on my finger and 4 carat diamond studs on my ears. He simply could not believe his good fortune in finding me. Said that I deserved much more, but he was just taking a stab at it. So Now. I LOVE DIAMONDS! AND I HAVE A TON OF EM.

I'm with you on this one. Diamonds themselves are not actually so rare or precious but because of De Beers' marketing strategies (buy out the entire market and release small amounts at hugely inflated prices, along with their advertising slogans as you mentioned) they have become symbols of love, eternity and wealth. Also the nations where they are mined are often among the poorest.

Diamonds are pretty especially when they shine in the sun/
A wedding/engagement ring doesn't have to have diamond/diamonds/
A diamond is for ever ...meaning.. the diamond lasts forever, but the marriage usually does not/
I don't love diamonds. but they are pretty as I have said..

well, i wouldn't say that i absolutely love diamonds. i'm a simple gal who likes simple jewelry. a diamond ring or bracelet can be nice for a night out on the town. but, i don't go overboard. oh and they don't make me happy.

i'm like you, i'm not gonna go crazy over them...if someone gave me a diamond bracelet or something i'd ask them why they were stupid enough to spend so much money on something that's pretty much useless to me, i'd rather they buy me something useful

diamonds are okay. girls like them because they are expensive, and they find it flattering when guys spend tons of money on them. stupid isn't it?
