Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this. Found this interesting myself. Ritalin type drugs are bad for you, and are sooooo overprescribed. But, for the kids who actually have this problem, what do you really think about using marijuana to help?

The medical lobbyists have way too much money to cover up negative affects of medicines. The marijuana lobbyists don't have nearly as much, they can't patent it, and won't have a monopoly on the medicine to recover expenses involved with lobbying... so they can't cover up the negative affects, as one answerer already gave an example. So, in the mean time it appears that our kids are just going to have to be pumped full of narcotics(ritalin). Laws=Narcotics Good for children. $$ for lobbyists=Kids+Narcotics. Narcotic candy for Kids---> Yah!!!

I think we need to research it. This country unfortunately suffers from a real Puritanical streak, and it's a shame that a plant with so many potential benefits is considered so evil. What this doctor has seen is really interesting, and it would be nice if it were possible to get the funding for a proper research into the benefits and problems associated with cannabis and kids with ADD/ADHD.

This is from the Drug Policy Alliance, a major pro-legalization organization:

"The cognitive process most clearly affected by marijuana is short-term memory. In laboratory studies, subjects under the influence of marijuana have no trouble remembering things they learned previously. However, they display diminished capacity to learn and recall new information. "

That doesn't strike me as being very helpful.
