Well, Intel's Core 2 chips are superior to AMD chips in EVERY single benchmark, especially CPU intensive tasks like video editing and especially editing. But since you already have AMD parts.....

To get the most from any editing gaming system, you need multiple hard drives. One for Windows/Programs/Storage and another for games/video editing. (though you should really have three drives).

You need at least 2gb of DDR2-800 RAM, though 32-bit Vista and XP can handle 3gb MAX. 64-bit Windows can handle 8gb of RAM (maybe 16gb max). So I would go 2 x 1gb sticks and 2 x 512mb sticks for a total of 3gb.

Scratch the 2x512mb, I can't find them anymore.

Also, the Zalmans don't really cool that great compared to 120mm tower coolers.

As for gaming, the 1950pro at $120 is the bang for the buck champ. The 8800-series Nvidia cards are the best performing, with the cheapest 320mb 8800gts coming in at about $240-250 after rebate.
Look at the blue lines, x1950pro VS 8800gts 320mb

theres really not much left to do. really all you need is some ram, a video card, some storage drives, a power supply, and any other addon cards you might want. as for a system that handles most games and video, you might want a pretty decent video card. i would suggest at least a 7th gen. gforce card, preferable with at least 256MB of onboard memory. one tip when searching for video cards, look for one whith a higher operationg frequency as this generaly determins how much information it can process at a time. if you are planing on running SLI you need two of the exact same video cards that are compatible with SLI. now with two video cards you are going to want a PSU with a pretty big cushion so i would suggest somthing between 500 and 600 watts. as for ram, you can get a good 2GB daul chanel kit for around $100. really it all depends on how much you want to spend.

Well, Considering the system you have, I would suggest as much memory as the motherboard will take, and a 512 meg video card. maybe a 17-19" LCD digital

2GB ddr2 system ram(800mghz) and 1 512 MB video card(whichever 1 fits your mobo. PCI express if you have the slot open. And windows xp (vista still has problems). Check components at ---Pricewatch.com---they have great prices and many stores, some even have free shipping.
