Try coin collecting. It doesn't have to cost you a lot. You can go to the bank and pick of a box of coin (whichever denomination you like) for exactly face value. A box of pennies is $25, a box of nickels is $100, a box of dimes is $250 and boxes of half dollars or quarters are $500. The bank can pull out just $100 for you and you wouldn't have to buy all $500 if you didn't want to.

Once you get a box, you can go through and pull out the better coins (there are books to help with this or websites). You can pick up a coin book and try to fill all the holes or just search for interesting ones.

The coins that you don't want can be returned to the bank and put straight back into your account (though it's often better to return the coins to a different bank (not just a different branch but a different bank) so that you don't search the same boxes over and over). So you get most of your money back and you could then get another box.

Also check your change for interesting finds.

Some things to search for: wheat pennies, silver dimes, silver quarters, old coins, error coins, etc. There's always the chance that you could find a real treasure!

OR IF THAT'S NOT FOR YOU...

Costume design and making them, Live Action Role Play, Re enactment, machine embroidery design, hand embroidery, hand sewing, leather working, spinning, weaving, silver smithing, watercolours, oil painting, sketching, a bit of 'light' wood work, painting murals, caligraphy, creative writing, online communities, tablet weaving, pottery, lucet, bush craft, learning (about almost anything and everything), cooking, candle making, herbalism...are some of my skills/hobbies.

If you are looking for a new creative hobby I'd suggest you find something you look at and go 'wow' and find out how to do it. A friend has recently taught herself how to knit from U tube. Get yourself a book on the subject, take an evening class or see if there are any Saturday 'taster' days. If you are still at school ask someone in the art dept if they have any after school clubs doing anything that sounds fun.

Card making is great and the recipients are always pleased with the effort involved. Also cross stitch is fun. I dont know how old you are but you can get kits from Book-marks to big pictures and they are for all ages and abilities.

I also enjoy crochet. You can make some really great bags and scarves out of crochet and knitting.

Have fun if you find a hobby you never need to be bored.

I love music. One of the hobbies I enjoyed the most is playing the piano. I am not an expert but I like to feeling of playing it. It nourishes my soul and heart. I feel relax and calm. As an extension to that, I also like to sing and write songs. Again, I am not an expert nor have I published an album yet, I just feel great and I enjoy it and will not feel bore about it.

Another craft hobby I like the most is wood crafting. I used to craft poems on woods and give it as a gift to my friends. Apart from the wood crafting, I also like to use “white cement” to make figurines. I display it at my own house. I do give away sometime.

I like writing as well. I like to write short articles on travel. I did not travel much, I got all the exciting information from travel books from the local library. It is very exciting to read about places and later write a short article on it.

I also like reading. I read a lot about places. As you are aware, we cannot possibly go to every place in our lifetime. So, the only way is to ready them from travel books, magazine and watch documentary shows. Reading about places enables me to know what other people’s culture and living habits are. It is rather intriguing, as after all, we are all human. Why do we live differently??

If you're really bored, please find somewhere to volunteer! Many places need all the help they can get, and will train you once you get there. Some good places to check are local animal shelters and homes for the elderly.

Animal shelters need people to volunteer to walk the dogs and pet the cats. Honest! The paid staff never has enough time to do all that's needed.

Homes for the elderly need people who can volunteer to sit and talk with residents, read to them, or just listen. The nurses wish they had time to do that, but just don't. It makes them feel better when people come in to volunteer.

If you really want hobbies, I enjoy wire work and beading, knitting, sewing, reading, and things like that. I make most of my own clothes so I can have what I want, not what someone who's never met me decides we'll all be wearing this year.

OK, I am the Queen of arts 'n' crafts! I like patchwork, quilting, dressmaking, embroidery, papier mache, salt dough modelling, painting, collage, printmaking, photography, junk modelling, and a whole lot of other stuff *peers into vast craft supplies drawer*

If you go to a thrift store you're bound to find a book on home crafts for mere pennies. They are a great source of inspiration!

I have just started jewellery making which is huge fun. I went on a workshop to learn the basics which didn't cost a huge amount and since then i have made all sorts of things - bracelets, necklaces, handbag & phone charms, earrings. It is great fun to design bits and use your imagination to create items to either wear yourself or to give as pressies or even sell. You do need to buy a supply of different beads to get started but there are quite reasonable beginners kits to start you off. Beware though, it can become addictive!!! but is great fun.

I love scrapbooking. If you had of asked me 12 months ago if I would be interested in scrapbooking I would have laughed & said no thanks a bit dull & boring for me. But I went along to a Creative Memories class to help somebody out & got completely hooked.
