Think about something happening much bigger than 911.
A small rouge nation or a major world power or maybe just terrorists again. Launch a major strike and take out several major cities, cripple our armed forces with a cyber attack or do something to wreck our economy.
Which one of the current major candidates could best deal with, react to and help the nation through the threat and why do you think the person you choose would be the best?

Now I am a little biased, since I am a Barack Obama supporter, but I think he would do an amazing job at unifying this country. That is what his campaign is all about. Its a hard question to answer since nobody knows how exactly anyone would react to such an event.
On the Republican side, I believe that Rudy Giuliani would be best. He has delt with this kind of crisis before and did a great job dealing with NYC. On the other hand, a country is greatly different than a city and it would be more difficult.

John McCain hands down. He's been through times that would give the rest of us nightmares so bad we would curl up in a corner for the rest of our lives yet; he's still going strong. He isn't impulsively aggressive but aggressive when he needs to be. He's a calm rational soul with good intentions and unquestionable principles. Of all the candidates out there, McCain and Kucinich are the most honest and even though they are at two ends of a spectrum, these two truly have the good of the country foremost in their hearts.
Of course I would vote for a a clone of Richard M. Nixon before I voted for Kucinich but I do respect Kucinich very much.

Within the scope of your question it would have to be someone with very significant international experience and strong command of technology.

That leaves Joe Biden on the left and John McCain on the Right.

Neither of them are electable, Biden due in part to weak campaign organization and McCain for some statements that make him look like he's opposed to right wing dogma.

I somewhat have much less self assurance in an FBI peon than I do Rick Davis. i could think of Davis could be closer and consequently greater knowledgeable approximately what went on than Miller. does not recommend the two one became telling a lie. human beings do make misstatements often times with none ulterior reason.
