I would warn Black Africa that selling their conquered foes to white Europeans would eventually lead to their descendants' loss of their cultural identity. Africans were selling the slaves, but in Africa, slaves were treated more like prisoners of war. In the US is where things were brutal. I think if the African slave owners knew exactly how things would be for their slaves once they sold them to Europeans, that they wouldn't have done it.
That way, the US wouldn't have profited from African slaves but would have continued to use other Europeans who wanted free passage to the US instead.
And that would make it possible for African Americans to have their cultural "identity". They never would have lost it if it hadn't been for Africans selling slaves to Europeans. If the Africans had only known. Can you imagine how much it would have meant to our country's history to NOT have African slaves?
I think it is one of the worst institutions ever created by man.
Of course, that would have left the majority of Africans in Africa. It would mean that a lot of African Americans who are here today wouldn't even be living in the US at all, but would be living as refugees in fear of their lives every day due to anarchy and corrupt (more corrupt than the US) government.
Hard to say. Is living over here in the US without your cultural heritage worth it, or would it be better to live over in Africa the way it is today?
I think that if the African slave owners hadn't sold their slaves unwittingly to evil men that the world in general would be a better place. Even Africa. Maybe they would have dropped the idea of using POWs as slaves. I guess we'll never know.
