How do you start a radio station that plays copyrighted music like Hilary Duff or Kelly Clarkson? What's needed to do that? What's needed to start an online radio station? How much would everything cost? How do radio stations make money? Please post. Thanks.

The royalty for use of recordings is a minimum $500 per year, with a payment for each listner for each play. You will have to track every listner to comply with the law, not an easy task. There are certain playlist restrictions as well, no "all Beatles" programs allowed. The ISP host for your channel will probably help you through this. It is very hard to make money on IP radio because most people want to listen for free, and the new music royalties are significant. The best bet is to get sponsors, either on-air adverts, or link ads on the page.
