There are 2 sets direct wires coming out of the wall. What do I do with the second one?

So the Outlet I have has 2 silver screws and 2 gold screws. Do I screw one white to the silver and the other white to the other silver? Same with black (one black to gold and the other gold to the other gold screw).

Yes, both whites to the silver screws on one side. Both black wires to the brass screws on the other side. The ground wires (bare or green) if any, wire nutted together with a short wire to the ground screw at the bottom of the receptacle.

Listen to John T. Best answer. You don't mention a green or bare copper ground. If there is one it should go to the green screw on the outlet. If the outlet has no ground screw ( two prong ) and there is a ground wire it attaches to the electrical box.

yea put the one set of wires on the one side of the device white on silver and black on copper and do the same for other side it shounds like theres another plug or light runing through the same wires so like if you dont have that device hooked up something else wont work and good luck

TWO SETS OF WIRES BECAUSE IT GOES TO ANOTHER OUTLET.
WIRES SHOULD BE 2 BLACK PUT ON BRASS SCREW SIDE AND 2 WHITE WIRES GOES ON THE SIVER SIDE.

Any hardware store will sale you a little device for about 10 bucks that will tell you when you have the wires connected right. (Typically a light shows red when wrong, green when correct.) Cap off any extra wires and leave them inside the wall.

one wire goes on one side the other goes on the other side,the other set of wires have to go to another plug in someplce in your house,check all your plug in's and lights,if everything is still working like it was before you took the old plug lose,cut the other set of wires so there is no bare wire and tape them so they can not rud on anything,if i can help more send me your question
