I'm asking that question since my dads place I'm moving to doesn't have internet. I want to get it (plus he doesn't even have cable *shudder*). I have a Dell Inspiron 6000.

Thanks for your help!

If your Dad doesn't have Cable or DSL, you have nothing to connect a wireless router to.

You can grit your teeth and go dialup, or save your money.

If you fire up your laptop at your Dad's place, you may see wireless networks. If you are very lucky, he may have an apartment over a hotspot. If you see wireless networks, see if you can find out who runs them, and ask if you can piggyback. It is unlawful to piggyback off of a neighbor's router without their consent.

your best bet would be getting a usb wireless such as a belkin.it comes with a usb extention cord. and as far as getting a conection depending on where you are there are alot of 'wireless hot spots' around. look up cantenna on the web and it should give you some ideas.

It's either dial-up or this ISP service called wireless internet, I heard about it that it you can connect to it everywhere in your home. Try that
