All CDs can hold 180 MB. In fact, they can hold up to 700 MB
(some special ones can go up to 900). Therefore, you could hold however much music could fit in the space constraints. This will be affected somewhat by the quality of the MP3s or other file type you are using.
However, you cannot burn 3 hours worth of music in "Audio CD" format. These types of CDs can only hold up to 70 min (again, some special ones can hold up to 99 min) of music.
Bottom line: if you want to play it in a computer, most DVD players, and some car stereos, you can burn the MP3s straight to a CD. If you want it to be playable in ALL stereos, you must use the "Audio CD" format, and the constraints that come with it.
