I've been building models for amost 35 years now, and my favorites for quality would be:

1) Tamiya
2) Hasegawa
3) Dragon
4) Monogram / Revell
5) Testors
6) Trumpeter
7) Airfix

go for tamiya , a little expensive but excellent detail on each model i have done
