Because they're livin' in the distant past when the Cryboys were semi-respectable. Personally, I think the only reason was that line of "Cheerleaders/Strippers" they put out on the sidelines. That T & A show was the most noteworthy thing to ever come out of Dallasss.
BTW: The Steelers are # 1 in team merchandising & sales now and have been for several years. Watch a Steeler road game & you'll see more Terrible Towels wavin' & Black & Gold wearing fans than the "home" team. Super Bowl XL looked like a home game for the Steelers. The Cryboys never had that type of fan support & never will.

The Raiders... yea, keep telling yourself they sell more jerseys than anyone. The only one worth buying is Russell and he isn't even a member of the team.

It was done by the front office in the 70's and the Cowboys you could trust to see on TV just about every weekend no matter if you were in New York, Texas, or California, you were going to see a Cowboys game. They were seen across America.

And history is repeating itself. The Cowboys for the past few years are seen by more people than any other team.

Because they are Americas Team! they are televised more than any other team and are recognized around the WORLD more than ANY other spots team of any kind. People that have no clue about American football know who the Cowboys are! They are the Face and Biggest sports organization in the world. Their new stadium is costing $1 billion dollars and is going to be the largest in the world. It will have the longest dual arches in the world and will be able to fit the statue of liberty inside of it standing up. Will have the 2 largest TVs in the world in it and the largest sound system in the world. All because of the worlds largest fan base and they have more money than any other team!
The only reason raiders sell a lot of stuff is thugs like to wear football stuff and the headquarters for the worlds largest thug piece of crap base is in oakland. oakland should be fenced off and made a prison out of. All the thugs are already there.

Here ya go man...I Wiki'd it and according to wikipedia-"America’s Team is a term often used to describe the Dallas Cowboys franchise that plays in the NFC East of the National Football League.[1] The term is recognized and often used by media outlets, including ESPN.[2]

Bob Ryan, the Vice President and editor-in-chief of NFL Films, coined this for the Cowboys in 1979. After preparing and editing the team’s 1978 season highlight film he had to come up with a title for the film.[3] He was quoted as saying:

"After the '78 season, the Cowboys had just lost a crushing Super Bowl to the Steelers. I wanted to come up with a different twist on their team highlight film. I noticed then, and had noticed earlier, that wherever the Cowboys played, you saw people in the stands with Cowboys jerseys and hats and pennants. Plus, they were always the national game on television."

Drawing upon this inspiration and that of other nationally followed sports teams, such as the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in college football and the Boston Celtics in pro basketball, which Ryan said "are all America’s teams," he decided to use America’s Team as the name of the highlight film.

During the Cowboys' first game of the 1979 season, a nationally televised game against the St. Louis Cardinals (which Dallas won 22-21), the television announcer introduced the Cowboys as America’s Team and the nickname stuck.

Dallas’ Hall of Fame coach Tom Landry originally did not approve of the appellation. He felt that it would give opposing teams extra incentive to play harder. Eventually he gave in and actually came to like the name.[4]

In 2003, NFL Films released a DVD collection chronicling the Dallas Cowboys franchise entitled The Dallas Cowboys: The Complete History of America's Team 1960-2003."

The Cowboys won 3 superbowls in a span of 4 years. Why else would they be America's Team?

P.S. Unlike the 70's and 80's, the Raiders SUCK now!
