Lord Kelvin was professor of natural philosophy at the Univ. of Glasgow (1846–99). He is known especially for his work on heat and electricity.

Here is a quote from him:

[from A Lecture Delivered at the Academy of Music, Philadelphia, Under the Auspices of the Franklin Institute, September 29th, 1884]

"Some people say they cannot understand a million million. Those people cannot understand that twice two makes four."

William Thomson, 1st Lord Kelvin, worked in Glasgow, Scotland.
Mathematical physicist, working on absolute temperature, the kelvin scale(K).
Molecular motion stops at 0(zero)K, -273 degrees C.
NB when the Kelvin scale is used, temperature is quoted as 'K'(Kelvin), NOT degrees K. NOR degrees Kelvin.
