I have a problem with my cd drive and when I put a cd there it gives me two notices : the first one is : Please insert a disk into drive D: and the second notice is : D: is not accessible the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.So can U tell me pls whats going on,do I have a software or a hardware problem? Do I need to formatt my laptop or buy a new cd drive? Thanx so much for the help.

I/O errors tend to be HARDWARE, you could try a CD lens cleaner disc, but probably needs a new drive to be honest

I/O errors are with the device or the connections.
i think you have to get a new drive, but try cleaning your current first.
