Yes, if you are both connected in the same network (hub or wireless router) you can access both. But you should configure the file sharing in each computer. to do that, just right click the file or the drive you want to share, then open the sharing menu, and you can now configure the file sharing...

Yep, if you're using Windows XP, there is a program called Remote Desktop, go to Start menu, All Programs, Accessories, Communication, Remote Desktop Connection, try checking that out
