it has ink, it's connected, no paper jams, the last time it worked my father was using it. he did a large printing job. the next day it didn't work. plus he left the printer on while the computer was off.

NEED more info.
Does it try to print, appear to print and nothing on page ? Ink dried up.
Does it do nothing ? Check status box in bottom right corner, check for "use printer offline" or other errors

Do you have ink in the cartridge ? do you have the right drivers ? what does the printer do when you try to print ? does it go through the motions but the paper is blank ? if you know you have ink and have not used the printer over the summer just take the cartridges out, boil water, dip the cartridge in and out of the water then take a piece of paper towel fold it in half and dab the cartridge on it and not in the same spot so you can see if it gets better you can also squeeze the sides of it to put pressure on the head.
