I'm absolutely terrified of ticks because my dog got bitten by one. And I love camping. But every time I go camping, I get so scared of the ticks in the campsite that I don't have any fun. What's the best way to keep ticks off of me and my puppy?

If weather allows it , wear long sleeves, jeans and tuck your jeans into some boots. Ticks will often cling to lower body and legs.

Please don't let these fears ruin the fun. I have gone camping trillions of times and have never had or even thought about a tick.
If by chance you actually acquire one, it is nothing to freak out about, really. Low chance of transmitting a disease really, though it could happen.
They sell tick removers at the pet store which are very simple to use. Take one with you! you would check with your doctor once the the trip was over of course if there is any question on your mind. Have fun! just be cautious walking through brush and such.
They sell tick spray for your puppy love at any pet store.Tell them you are taking the dog camping and ask them or your vet what they suggest. (vets know best)
A camping you will go......

Best way to keep ticks off you is with insect repellent with DEET. For your dog apply Frontline on a monthly basis. In Colorado there are no deer ticks, so you don't have to worry about Lyme disease. In Colorado the only ticks are wood ticks a.k.a. dog ticks. They are rather large vs a deer tick which is about the size of a sesame seed.

Don't come east, there is no place safe from them. Dang things are everywhere and are active anytime there isn't snow on the ground.

k-9 advantix for the dog, not sure about you. Be careful. Ticks carry Lyme disease which is the equivalent of hell on earth.
