Civicdream gave a good well thought out answer. The other difference, Windows 115,000 viruses, MacOS X, zero viruses. With a Mac you don't do daily virus definition updates and scans which slow your computer down. Macs are also top rated for tech support and the MacBooks for battery life. Yes you can buy a cheaper PC, but you get what you pay for. If you like resetting your BIOS, updating your RAM, overclocking your processor etc., then get a PC. If you want a computer that works out of the box, get a Mac. My old school district had some Macs that were 15 years old that were still working.

Mac has more beautiful transitions and are easier to use so you don't need to be a techie (Like me) but are also more expensive. If you have some knowladge of computers and don't mind tinkering once in a while, go with the pc and pay the same as a mac so you can get a better computer that runs faster. IMO

macs are known to be more "user friendly", due to their "plug and play" ideology. you literally just plug in a cord or two with their peripheals and software, and then you're ready to go. just keep in mind, pc's really aren't hard to navigate to begin with. macs just make operations seem more fluid.
pc's are well known to be hacker friendly and virus prone- where there are very few known viruses for macs, and they are more of a nusance to tinker with for hackers.
one major flaw of the mac, is that a good portion of the software sold in retail or found on the internet are not mac friendly or just plain non-existent. this has gotten better with time, but really not to a mac's user's satisfaction considering the burst in popularity.
if you haven't done so already, go to apple.com and do a search for commercials. click on pc vs. mac. watch all of them. they are HILARIOUS. not to mention they are all true and not biased just because they're on apple's site. I'M a PC USER, and i can crack up easily because I know exactly what the commercial is talking about when pointing out a pc's flaw. don't let this be your only form of research. there are websites out there that do comparisons. google for 'em. good luck.

Macs=good....to heaven
pcs=bad....go to hell.
ne way now u want a mac.... depends whatu want to do. if u want to do email, music, word processing, a little iLife stuff a mac mini is fine. if your wanting to get more serous in iLife(eg imovie, idvd, iphotoing a lot), play some games, and want a lot of power other wise, and dont already have adecent screen, an iMac is for u. if your looking for a laptop...
a Macbook=mac mini
a macbook pro= imac.
that is is a simple analogy used to compare laptops and desktops mac wise.
but any mac is a great machine. i want to congraulate you on makeing the right choice. lol
peace

If you can, get one of each so you can have best of both worlds.
Mac = hardly any spyware, spam, viruses, etc., but not many programs
PC = more programs, but Vista sucks. If you get a PC, see if the store has any XP machines left.

what do u want the puter for? people are buying macs cause they look nice, then when they get them, they are angry cause they cant work anything. macs are way over priced like the ipodas are. they know it people have ipods then they can mark-up the price of their puters. u can get a pc for around $400. macs are a about $1200-2300.

Mac is rubbish and overpriced and everything starts with i. so iThink you should go for a pc also you can run mac and wiNdows together on a pc, something which you cant do on a mac. ViSta iS slow, and needs alot of memory and ram to work properly but iS worth it. or you could stay safe and go for XP
