Tomorrow is my gender determination ultrasound, and my husband has made it clear that he doesn't want me calling him while he's in the middle of work to tell him from the doctor's office - he thinks it will be more special if I wait until he gets home and tell him in person after being held in suspense all day. I'm looking for some creative ways to break the news to him. I was going to stop by his job and load the inside of his truck down with "it's a ..." balloons & wrap it with whichever color bow I end up needing, buuuut he wants to find out at home... So I need some ideas! I would like to do something fun & creative that he'll always remember. This time is different, he was present for our last two children's gender determination ultrasounds, but this time he just can't get off of work because of previous circumstances. (3 months of missed work from a car accident!) So I want to make it special. Any help?

Maybe you could include your older kid's in it like.... make t-shirts for them to wear that says "we're having a baby brother" or get the plain balloons and have one child hand him one that you write on with marker that says" its a ..." and the next one say " baby girl!!" or something like that. that would be very cute. gl!

Well your idea is still great, you can just fill a room or a closet in the house instead of a car. For instance, the coat closet. You could ask him to grab you something from there, and voila it's a big baby surprise!

Another good way would be to wrap him a package, and inside have something that will give away the sex of the baby. For instance, elaborately wrap a small box, and inside put a pink bow or a little blue baseball cap. You can even put it in there with a little gift to him, like a bib that says "Daddy's Little Girl" or something cute like that.

You could even just greet him in a cute little maternity dress, either blue or pink, holding the balloons in your hand, with a bow wrapped around your waist and positioned over your tummy. I think that would be awfully cute. I don't know how your sex drive is these days (pregnancy can alter that quite a bit, as you probably well know by now) but you can even do the same thing in a cute little maternity nightie, and then celebrate the news together in your own way.

I think it's so cute how you want to share the news in a special way. Even though he won't be with you at the office, he'll be with you in spirit, anxiously waiting ALL DAY LONG for the good news. That's so exciting. Congratulations on your little bundle of joy, no matter what it might be. God bless!

Make it like a game blow up balloons and put little clues in them that hint at but dont give away the sex of the baby. Like a scavenger hung. Place the last one in the crib or something similar and that one will contain the answer you can make that one even a little more special by using a punching balloon (a really big balloon so you can fit something larger in it) and put in something like pink/blue booties, or a bib that says, daddy's little girl/boy! Good Luck

Personally, I'd keep him in suspense until dessert. :o) I'd have the table set & decorated with pink & blue, and a little generic baby thing (like a pacifier) gift-wrapped next to his plate. With each course, give him another "gift," like a generic bib, some white baby sox or booties, a green or yellow onsie, building an entire generic outfit throughout the meal. Then, after dessert, give him a gift that contains either a little headband or baseball cap.

Have fun!

I think a cute idea would be if you went out and bought pink or blue balloons blow them up and fill the babys nursery completley so that the first thing he sees is that color. Fill the room from floor to cieling .

I think it's wonderful to have the technology to know the sex BEFORE the baby is born. It helps you to prepare for a boy or girl. Patience has nothing to do with it. You could get the kids to paint your belly with washable non toxic paint saying it's a boy, or girl, whichever it is.

Something simple but sweet: buy a pair of tiny tennis shoes that are either blue or pink. Wrap them up and let him open the gift. Congratulations!!

Boy - "Hey Rick, it's a girl!...Just kidding."

Girl- "Hey Rick, it's a boy!.... Psyche!"

.....Yeah.

You could plan a dinner (just you two or with friends who don't know either) and buy a cake for dessert that says "It's a ___!"
