i got an iguana 2 weeks ago. he was very active ate and drank well. i am guessing his is about 2 months old but that is a geuss, he is very young though.
lately he has been having stange episodes. during moments when he is basking in his light or in the sun his eyes (when they are closed) will bulge really far out of his head and he will start gaging. this will go on for about 4 seconds. he doesnt puke. he does this about 2-3 times day.
he also isnt very active and wants to sleep most of the time and if i let him sit on the floor he wont run around he will just sleep.
i also havent seen him or found any evidence that he has been "been using the bathroom" (sorry if that sounds childish).
he doesnt drink unless i help him or make him. he eats fine though and has a good apitite.

he will be going to the vet but do you have anything to say about this? is this normal? im just really scared for him. thanks and please help.

sorry the info is all jumbled up

i have seen this many times, what is usally the problem is that the iguana has eaten some food that has been on cypress or junglebed and he can not digest is and might die or that the tempertaure is too cold or too hot and he is in a stage of hibernation tat could last for day to weeks. also he might be still adjusting to the new enviorment, what i suggest is to call a local pet store and ask what they think

They will "bug" out their eyes when stretching eye muscles or just before shedding to help loosen skin. Yawning is normal also.
Really make sure his habitat is OK. I'm adding two of my favorite IG links--just read through and see if you are forgetting anything. Important points for iggy health:

1. Large enclosure--the bigger the better.
2. High humidity--you can mist the enclosure daily.
3. Pool of water--a must to drink from, soak in, and most Igs will go to the bathroom in the pool.
4. Heat--must have a heat lamp and a basking spot of about 100F. You must use a digital thermometer, with a probe end, to accurately measure temps. Too low and they can't digest food and will become ill. Too high and they will become stressed. The heat needs to be at the top or one end of the enclosure, and there must be a cooler area for him to move into.
5. UVB--a Reptisun 10.0 or Reptiglo 8.0 is a must. Change the bulbs every 6 months. Must be within 12 inches of the basking spot.
6. Diet--must have a fresh salad every day, with appropriate vitamins. I like Melissa Kaplans Green Ig Diet.
7. And don't forget a parasite check at the vets!
