Temp File:
using Disk Clean, you can emtpty these files in both XP & Vista

I reccomend deleting your pre-fetch files at least weekly.
these are files that are copied to your temp folder anytime you open/use anything.
wordpad,email,websites,ect.

this is set up so your computer can find the software, application or website faster
but...in order to get the newest version of any website using this "cached" method
you need to refresh the page
in my opinion, this is counter-productive and wastes my time!
delete those files weekly

XP & Vista:
start
my computer [ Vista is just computer ]
local disk drive [c]
Vista may be o.s. [c]
windows
temp
click file
click select all

start [ or press windows key + letter R ]
enter explorer

options
view
click show hidden files/folders
uninstall files that begin AND end in $ AND contain text--UNINSTALL

REMOVE PROGRAMS:

downloads
right click program download
select delete

start
control panel
add/remove programs
click change/remove

desktop
right click desktop shortcut
select delete

start
run
if you don't have run on your start page
press windows flag key and letter R

enter regedit in search bar
press enter

hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft/program
right click and select delete

hkey_users\software\microsoft\program
right click and select delete

hkey_current_users\software\microsoft\program

hkey_users\software\microsoft\program

1- State your team and Record- Lakers (42-10) #2- What is a positive thing they did the first Half- Played defense very well in the first 7 games. #3. What can they Improve on for the Second Half- Play defense the rest of the way #4- Which Player has been the Most important and most consistent- Kobe and Pau. #5- Which Player is critical for your Team Success in the Second Half- Lamar Odom , Bynum is gonna be out. Odom needs to step up as he did the past couple weeks. The tough loss part the most heartbreaking one was the Troy Murphy tip in, I mean, yeah the Bobcats loss was bad, but you could already tell Lakers were gonna lose since Kobe had fouled out, but here, we are up one.. first guy misses the shot!! We win, and then BAM! a tip in. That just hurts.

The cheapest way is to instal a second hard drive.
And then move your "My Document" folder to the second hard drive.
If it is not enough, then move some of your programs to the second hard drive.
Your computer will run at its best when it has a minimum of 25% available space (but preferable you should keep it at no less than 35% available space) and for as long as you regularly run scandisk and then defragment.
It needs some space every time you use it in any way shape or form including scandisk or defragment. Why?
Because it needs the space to move things around as it tries to fulfill your requests
If it is feasable you should install a much larger drive and reinstall all your programs again as well as move from the old drive your ICQ and all your files.

Empty recycle bin.....

until to empty recycle bin, emptied space will not be recovered.....

further deleting rubbish is not enough
further process required.... assuming you have win2k or XP.
press windows key + E (Open windows explorer)

go to tools --> folder option --> view
select show all file /show hidden and system files

now go to document & settings in drive C
select your user
select local settings
select temp
Press CTRL + A (Select all files)
Now press right Shift and delete

this will delete all junk files without recycle bin and recover lot of space for you.

The main things that take up space on a computer are:
Photos
Music
Viruses

Copy as much photos/music to CD/DVD then delete the files from the computer. Also, some viruses create huge numbers of duplicate copies under different names. I have seen computers where more than half the used portion of the hard disk was taken up by viruses.

when you say deleted have you also emptied the recycle bin? if you "just" delete a file windows doesn't actually delete the file.. it just flags the file as deleted but doesn't actually physically free up the space

try downloading something like CCleaner.

look at the your file system and see what files you have there that you don't need

consider dumping any MP3's onto CD's of DVD's
delete any files that are sitting there doing nothing.. when was the last time you looked at a MPEG movie / tv clip. are there any programs that you no longer use
consider deleting the fonts you dont use

Some files may be larger than you think.
Open a folder.
click View
click Details
Now you can see the size of the file
You can see how anything with pictures consumes space.

What about older programs. Have you deleted/uninstalled them?

Ok what did u actually delete ?
What size is ur hardrive ?

If you have gotten rid of all the rubbish data you have then you may have to un-install something to free up the space.

In all honesty, if you've got less than 20% of ur harddrive free then I think its time to get a larger harddrive as well.

Do you burn DVDs? That can eat up a hard drive as sometimes it stores the finished product on your hard drive. Go to windows explorer and then documents and settings. Right click on properties to see how much space it's taking up. It may be your problem.

As the guy said, make sure your recycle bin is emptied. If you've done that, the next step would be to defrag your computer.
