Well hello there i was just wondering what all of you thought of this. Well i am 30 weeks pregnant and my baby shower is in oct and my mom and my brother had asked me what i wanted for my baby..... so i told my mom i wanted her to buy me the stroller travel set and my brother the swing from the fisher prise rainforest collection. I thought everything was set until they went to go look at the rainforest themed i had oicked and they called me right away and told me that the things i wanted where so ugly, and they didn't go for the winter. I know it made me feel sad. they want me to get something with lighter colors and i told them the reason why i didn't it's because light colors get more dirtier! so what do you all think should i go with what i want or should i change my mind and listen to them? or are they being unfair? below is the bouncer and swing i want for the baby!

Aww, you poor thing. They should be nice! The rainforest theme is colorful and pretty, and I know your baby will like it just fine.

Tell them that you're the one who's going to be living with the pattern and looking at it every day, not them. They should be considerate of your needs.

Good luck with your shower and I'm sorry your family is being such a pain. The time to stand up for yourself is now, they're probably going to keep acting like this if you don't say something.

I have the Ocean Wonders swing from Fisher price, it is the older model and it was a very light blue but otherwise the same as this one (as near as I can tell):

There are a lot less complaints about this swing, it works well and reliably. As I said mine was a very light blue and it cleaned very easily just with a cloth and it is very easy to toss the fabric in the wash if need be, it takes less than 60 seconds to take the fabric off. The swing also folds flat for storage and transporting (though if you really want to take it anywhere you would have to get a bag for it, or put a strap around it.)

The rainforest open top swing was recalled due to a strangulation hazard. There were also many complaints that it didn't always turn on or when it did that it was too fast to start.

You can read about the recall here:

I would check out the various models and reviews on a few online sites like epinions.com.

But as I said I had no problem cleaning them, the fabric is very good. Ultimately though you should get what you want.

WHat a couple of jerks.. sorry I know they are family but how rude!! NO they have no right to say what you want for your baby is wrong or ugly etc. If it was that ugly it wouldn't be on the market which makes me wonder why they are saying such hurtful things to you. If they still don't want to buy it for you then ask for a gift card instead. Then you can just buy it yourself. Sorry, but I just can't believe they would say those things to you especially when you are pregnant.

Just remind them to get gift receipts "in case it's defective," and take the thing in for an exchange. I believe Babies R Us might do an exchange on an item in unopened package even without the receipt. Maybe you can call them and check.

I agree your family members are being incredibly rude and disrespectful, but you shouldn't meet rudeness with more rudeness because it's still a gift.

you are absolutely right. these are for YOU and YOUR baby. THEY asked you what you wanted.. everyone has their own taste. obviously they do not have the same as yours but it is YOU that will be looking at it and using it every day... they were kinda rude to tell you they were ugly.

Tell your mom and brother that when they have another child, they can choose whatever they like. You are allowed to pick out whatever you want. It's YOUR baby!

just listen to them. I mean it's the thought that counts. Just appreciate whatever you are getting. Baby stuff is so expensive so be thankful for what people buy you
