a dictionary or a thesaurus ?

and just for the record what's the difference?

Yes,above, they are all right except they fail to mention that a thesaurus also gives antonyms if they only took time to learn to use them properly. A thesaurus is a writers essential, a dictionary is a writers assistant.

Basically, I am my own dictionary and thesaurus. At school, my one positive nickname was The Walking Dictionary.

I use a dictionary more often myself.

Just for the record... a dictionary gives you the spelling, pronunciation, and definition of a words meaning, along with some info about the words origins and the part of speech to which it belongs; a thesaurus gives you synonyms (alternatives) to your chosen word.

Thesaurus. Sometimes my mind goes blank and I can't find the word I am looking for. Basically if you look up the synonym, most times you will find it.

thesaurus. it was my bible when i did my nvq and when i write letters..coz i use words that are not used everyday but still mean the same as the words used everyday/// u get me?
so i sound educated..hahhaha unlike now hahaha

I use the thesarus more often. The thesarus is a book of synonyms, and the dictionary is a book of definitions.
