I'm an Amsoil distributor and have had nothing but good results, personally and from customers. The first product I tried was their synthetic ATF. Then their 25,000 mile/1 year 5W-30 synthetic oil and EaO oil filter. I was the die-hard 3,000 mile/3 month guy, but I forced myself to go 6 months and about 8,000 miles on Amsoil and had no problems. Now I use the 0W-30 for a full year. I've also got a 5.0 Mustang with quite a few miles on it with the 20W-50 racing oil and synthetic 75W-90 in the rear.

As far as my customers, the crotch-rocket street bike guys love the 10W-40 motorcycle oil and the cruiser guys love the 20W-50 motorcycle oil (one person with a Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 reports his electric fan coming on less-- synthetics do help you run cooler). A guy with over 100,000 miles on his '97 Cadillac put the 10W-30 synthetic in his and loves not getting an oil change every month and a half (he puts on mileage quick). Another with an '07 Civic Hybrid had the Crown Honda dealership (St. Pete, FL) install his Amsoil 0W-20 and showed them info on warranties and the Federal Magnuson-Moss Act and they agreed that his warranty could not be voided unless there was an engine failure directly attributed to the oil or the extended drain interval: http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=1463115&page=magnuson_moss
They also make a great fuel system cleaner, Amsoil P.I.

Personal experience with the products is what convinced me to become a dealer. The customer responses are great feedback and nice to hear.

Another thing to think about. . . if Amsoil's claims of superiority were unsubstantiated, the Federal Trade Commission would have alot on them. Do a search for Amsoil at http://www.ftc.gov Now do a search for Slick-50, Dura-lube, etc. and see what comes up. Also do a search for Mobil vs. Castrol. Amsoil and Mobil-1 are true synthetics, whereas Castrol Syntec has been changed to super-refined petroleum group III basestocks.

I swallowed extremely hard one day and used their 100 / 1 two -cycle oil in a hedge clipper. Guess what? It survived. This happened two yrs. ago. While visiting with our area Husqvarna dealer I ran synthetic two cycle oil by him and he scolded the crap out of me. He said the motors run hotter than with their own 50 /1regular two cycle oil. (I didn't tell him what I'd done with the El-Cheapo Weed-eater hedge trimmers.) Remember what I said earlier - this was two yrs. ago. Since that time Husqvarna and Echo have 50 - 1 synthetic oil with gasoline stabilizers.

I guess Amsoil products are fine but I personally am offended by their slanted testing and comparisons. They test Amsoil full synthetic in some testing catagories against other brands of semi-synthetic and non synthetics. Those tests prove nothing. A good company sells products on fair comparative merits. That's the way to gain customers. I've been tempted to give it a try but Toyota would throw me out the door if I said: "This oil does not have to be changed for 25,000 miles". They'd say: (Read your factory service manual and by the way, how well do you like your new car warranty?)

If they want to really stick their neck out test it in an independent lab. against the best: Joe Gibbs Racing oil, Red Line, Royal Purple and Brad Penn. I'm puzzled why it's not used in Nextel cup, Bush, Craftsman Truck, World of Outlaws, sprints or late models.

My husband swears by it, don't know why, but he has been in the automobile industry for 20+ years. He is also a motorcycle nut, and motor head.

I guess you got a good product there. :o)
