The music is all about violence, stealing, hating women, having no hope and "taking what's yours."

Is this really how we want our kids to think? What happened to family and education - which is available to all. Most of the people who adhere to this lifestyle end up in jail or working at McDonald's for the rest of their lives. What a waste!

And please, spare me the "racism" comments. I haven't mentioned race in any way. I'm commenting about the dangerous message that rap music sends.

Thanks, T-bone. You're incredibly insightful.

Now go get me some french fries to go with my Big Mac.

Sammy - you're right, a job is a job. I shouldn't have said that. McDonald's is a good corporation if you're willing to work your way up.

Unfortunately, the people I deal with at the McDonald's in my neighborhood have the worst attitudes ever. It's like they finally realized how much they screwed up, and now resent ME for it.

I agree with you and it also glorifies crime and being in prison. Why would anyone want to glorify being in prison???

Not all Rap music is like this, the older artists tend to be a bit more responsible, they still rap about the things they did when I was younger,
However people like 50cent shouldn't be allowed to release music
I don't think they necessarily make kids want to commit crime but they do encourage a certain image which is not obtainable unless you have mots of money.

I teach at a music night for young offenders and we only allow them to Rap or MC positive lyrics, they find thios hard but with enough encoragement can come up with some really meaningful anti-violence stuff.

Also check out badman by roll deep crew (dizzee rascal is part of roll deep) this song is an anti gun violence track

so like I said, not all rap has this angle . . .

The Angry degrading Rap music - yes. For instance, DMX, with his promoting of dogfighting. Other rappers denograte women (I can't believe they dance to it!). Killing cops, gang activity, violence, hatred. It's all in the rap music and I think that it's horrible. I would never buy it nor let my children listen to it. It's ghetto.

One thing I'll never understand is why no one criticizes Elvis. He had Priscella with him when she was only 14. Yet they call him the King. Wierd.

I wouldn't say it's "dangerous" but I'm tired of getting identified as a b/i/t/c/h or a h/o because I'm a girl. Rap sales are going down anyway and the only rap I
"listen" to is about dancing.

Elvis sang about sex with pre teens. The Beatles sang about worshipping Satan. Korn sings about incest. So you re gonna sit there and single out Rap hah. I don't even like 98% of Rap but you seem to be concentrated on one genre of music and have failed to do your research. More kids have commited suicide listening to non rap artists. Get your facts straight and give us a shout.
