Someone has probably use a caustic solution sold to provide "grip" on the bottom of the bathtub to prevent slipping. It works great but what they don't tel you is that that solution eats at the enamel to provide this grip. So using this a few times (or overdoing it once) will take the enamel down th the base coat which can never be polished back with any success. I hope you aren't victim to this. This sells a lot of bathtubs.

A car wax will work fine but a car polish with a high speed buffing will make it look shinier. If you plan on using the tub everyday though, your going to have to repeat this every week or month depending on your water. If your going to use it everyday you should get the glaze.

a very dry tub.... paste wax in the yellow can.... BUT... only on the SIDES and only down to about six inches above the bottom... the stuff is deadly slick when wet.... it's also great on fiberglass shower walls.... (getcha an electric buffer or a new arm....)
