I bet you get dozens of the old faithful cures but there is one sure way to stop it. Somewhere out there is a six foot samurai built like the proverbial victorian brick khasi, and hics really drive him nuts he'll take your head off in a trice If he hears you! just close your eyes and picture him for a mo!
HE'S HERE QUICK RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNN!!!!!!!!

Purely mental cures (no tools, no physical activity, no assistant)
(X) Think of all the bald men you can.
(X) Tell yourself "I'm not going to hiccup again."
(X) Don't do anything; just wait for the next hiccup.
(X) Close your eyes and visualize a neon sign, like a movie marquee; see the word "THINK" blinking on and off; concentrate on the sign and make the word blink as fast as possible.
Imagine a neon blue color, coming from between your eyes, (also known as the third or psychic eye) and directing it down the centre of your chest to the xiphisternum and then washing calmly across the diaphragm, from one side to the next and back continuously.

Calm down, take a deep breath, close your eyes, sip some water, deep breath, then change your breathing pattern by taking quick short breaths, then hold your breath for 10 seconds and take another sip of water.... your diaphragm should be back in sync.

I take a large sip of water and hold it in my mouth. I pinch my nose closed and try count slowly to one hundred (or even more) and when I feel like I'll burst If I don't breathe soon I swallow the water (and then of course .. breathe). It works for me.

I drink water while holding my breath and pushing on my throat (not too hard). It works most of the times, except on those really bad hiccups that kind of hurt.

Glass of water. Lean forward so your head's upside-down. Now put the glass to (what was) your top lip and sip the water. Works every time.
