Ancient olympics were a ritual and part of their culture.
Olympics now are to see who is more dominant.

As far as talent, the modern day olympics are much better;
Still, you cant help but wonder what the ancient olympics would have looked like on TV.

modern olympics by far nobody was around to watch the ancient olympics (that speak of it today) and women were not allowed to compete. Nowadays we have a lot more sports and it is televised so we do not have to wait for the news a few months later.

The ancient Olympics did not have different sports, there was only one competition. There was only one winner.
They were professional athletes, not amateurs.

The sport was similar to a pentathlon.

The modern is better because more people are allowed to compete and so are women.

How do you define better?
I wasn't around to witness the ancient games, but the modern games have become too commercialised and money-focussed.
I think that a third world country should host a future games to show that money is not what is important.
