"As soon as we cease to believe in such an engineer and in a discourse which breaks with the received historical discourse, and as soon as we admit that every finite discourse is bound by a certain bricolage and that the engineer and the scientist are also species of bricoleurs, then the very idea of bricolage is menaced and the difference in which it took on its meaning breaks down."

Actually, it doesn't matter what bricolage means, or anything else individually in the statement for that matter.

What this quote means is that it is possible to analyze something in such way as to undo that very thing. Even to the point that we can show how something represented as primary is derived.

For example let's take our idea of FAMILY:
Because mankind evolved from primates, the natural order of things is for an alpha male to control the group and get all the females. Consequently, it is in-controverted and unnatural for one-on-one male/female relationships to dominate in society.

BUT, the key is to simply provide this for thought and consideration, not to advocate a return to the alpha-male model. The over-all idea is to show that our constructs for the order of things can be broken down through analysis and criticism, and further, it is not the role of this analysis to suggest any alternatives.

This Derrida calls...DECONSTRUCTION.

I want the definition of bricolage before I venture a guess.
