Because music is so varied, just like the people of the world and it has so many different genres and so appealing to every generation and every person individually, music is a beauty we can all feel, music is something deep and amazing...and most of all music is something that speaks to our hearts and minds directly and individually...you dont need words, you dont need anything...just to listen and understand and it makes you happy. But this is really just my opinion. :)

Your question is very good. Music has the power to relax body, mind and soul. It is the very soothing. It has no boundaries of caste, religion, creed, nationality etc. Music in a lullaby can make a baby fall asleep. Grown ups too listen to music. I've heard that in olden days, when some singers (tansen) used to sing raag Malhaar, it would rain .A comedy or a cheerful happy song can bring smile on our faces. A sad emotional song can make us cry. Songs with beats can make us dance. A melodious song can make a person hum the song as it is being played and make him happy. Music is the form of expression for our feelings like love, hatred, anger, freedom, joy, sadness, happiness. We can relate to music , no matter whichever language it is. For NRI's, our bollywood songs are like messages to their loved ones. Music can unite people all over the world. Good hummable music (any kind of music , any language, any country) acts as a great stress buster. We can listen to music while reading, writing, walking, exercising, standing in a queue, ...almost everything you know. I completely agree that music is loved all over and i told you why....
