He is facing a felony domestic violence. The judge said no to bond reduction and lifting the restraining order. However somehow thru the court system he still gets my address and knocks on my door three days after his mother bails him out? Is this the courts screw up or just the way the stupid system is?

Actually there is a way to protect your address depending on if your state offers this program. It is called Address Confidentiality Program (or some variant). What this program does is protect victims of crimes from the perpetrator finding their address through the court file or documents field in court. However, many court systems are stupid and do not offer victims this assisatnce. I would also call your local DA and go to the courthouse and file a statement regarding the breaking of your protection order. This is a new criminal offense and he can be arrested for this.

Court documents are public record, so he has access to any information you include in the documents... and you have to include your address to file the documents. Stupid, but true!

Just having your address is not a violation of the Protective Order, but knocking on your door sure is! Don't answer the door, call 9-1-1 and tell them the party you are protected from is knocking on your door! That's a new crime!

If you have an OP and he shows up, do you call the cops each time? Around here if you violate and OP, you go to jail. If you continue to violate them, you then get a contempt charge thrown at you and longer jail time that is not bailable.

Have you thought he is following you? Does he know where you work? Or where you hang out? If it took him "3 days", it sounds more like it took him 3 days to find you. I would also inform the court of your suspicions and have the judge seal your file.

Watch your back, "cover the 6" (backside) and file a police complaint EVERYTIME he screws up. Eventually he will get 6 months if not longer in the county pokey. If he continues he will end up a guest of the state DOC....:)

Take care.

While he may have found a legal way to get your address, it is not legal for him to come knocking on your door. Sadly, it is not all that difficult to get information these days. Call the police emergency line if he comes to your house again and keep you doors locked and bolted until the matter goes to court and is settled.

He can have your address however there should be a no contact order or restraining order intact. Either way contact the prosecuting attorney and let them know if he is in violation then they will simply revoke his bail and put him in jail until the trial date.
