Most people gave you correct advice to install 4 winter tires. If installed them only in the front this would help you to get traction when you accelerate but it would create a very unsafe and unstable situation. Should you find yourself needing to stop in wet, slushy or snowy conditions the front will have more traction than the back and the back will want to come around. Same thing going around corners. This goes for the same type tires also, you should always have the better tires on the back. The article below explains this in detail.

For safety -- all 4 wheels for front drive and rear wheels for rear wheel drive. In emergency driving situations you want the same contact patch on all 4 wheels for designed handling. Rear wheel drives are more forgiving because of the balance of the vehicle.

You need to have the same style tire on all wheels for a safe drive. That is what I've been told. I'm not an expert but for sure you need them on all four tires.

you can put them on all four wheels but its only required that you put them on the wheels that do the pulling, which is the front ones, its not really necessary to have them on the back ones at all, you can run snow tires on the back if you want to,that will help but since they don't pull its not necessary, good luck.
