They are generally triggered by sunlight or the cold or you being run down generally. You need to use lip salve all the time to stop em pretty much. And they had nothing to do with hygiene issues either!!! Don't, however, kiss anyone when you have one, particularly children as you could pass the virus on.

The virus is called Herpes Simplex 1. It is possible to transfer the virus with no symptoms present.

Avoid oral sex as you may contaminate your partner or they could kiss you and contaminate you.

Stress does play a significant role in the amount of outbreaks that you have, as does sunlight, lip chapping, and malnutrition.
Also, when I have to go to the dentist, I occasionally get one. The stress to the lip tissue causes them.

To prevent them, use Carmex (the yellow lidded tub or tube)on your lips daily. If you do have an outbreak, I suggest the following...

The best non-doctor treatment I have found is called Abreva. It is available at Wal-mart and every drug store I have ever been in. Wal-mart is the cheapest at $13 a tube. It erases the pain immediately and shrinks the ugly sore within 2 to 4 days.

I have never contaminated anyone with the virus, although I have had it since my ex visited a "cat house" 13 years ago. I have followed this protocol for all these years and have only about one outbreak each year during the winter months when the air is so dry.

I really hope this answer helps you with this problem. I know that it has helped me.

I have been plagued with coldsores for years which have got worse and worse, and tried close to the whole thing. I started with them years ago, a couple of times a yr, and only a smallish swollen sore, then it bought to the factor the place I acquired them every 2-3 months, and just as bad as you are talking about, I had to have days off work once due to the fact that my whole face swelled up and blistered so bad. I used to get them in the identical situation at any time when too - left side of my backside lip. They only got worse and worse each time. I tried surely the whole lot, and my final lodge used to be these amino acid drugs known as L-Lysine, or mostly referred to as L-amino-lysine, which you get from wellness food outlets and it seems that they 'starve' the coldsore of the other proteins it needs to build (i'm not a general practitioner, so if this sounds too simplistic to medically trained men and women, sorry). I took like 6 of them on the primary day then a 2-3 a day for the following few days, and that coldsore infrequently got here up in any respect and then went inside a day. I did this with the subsequent one, then did not have a coldsore AT excited about about 18 months - it can be wholly been a miracle treatment for me! I got one a couple of months again, but I took the tablets because it started to swell rather and it just went backtrack once more after a day or so and did not get blistery or uncomfortable in any respect. Do not know if it'll work for every person, however i suppose it can be worth a are attempting. In case you google it you'll get some more info, it appears to work for every other persons too. P.S. I understand it's not a good idea to take tons of protein or amino acid tablets always however that you can tolerate it for a day as long as you are otherwise healthy and so forth, you shouldn't do it you probably have kidney issues or whatever though.

Cold sores are caused by a virus called herpes (say: hur-peez). Herpes is one of the most common viral infections in the world. The medical name for the specific virus that causes cold sores is herpes simplex.

There are two types of herpes simplex infection: herpes simplex virus one (called HSV-1 for short) and herpes simplex virus two (called HSV-2 for short). Although both can cause cold sores around a person's mouth, most are caused by HSV-1.

HSV-1 is so common that most Americans get infected with it, although many never have any symptoms. People can catch HSV-1 by kissing a person with a cold sore or sharing a drinking glass or utensils, so it's easy to see why there are so many cold sores around.

Kids who get infected with HSV-1 may get cold sores occasionally for the rest of their lives That's because even after the sores themselves dry up and go away, the virus stays in the body, waiting around for another time to come out and cause more sores. When a cold sore reappears, it is often in the same place as the previous one.

You could have herpes simplex virus I (HSVI). This is not the same as genital herpes. Genital herpes is HSVII. If this continues to be a problem, see your physician they can prescribe a prescription lip balm for break outs and a pill to help avoid breakouts. It sounds bad, but in all actuality, this is a wide spread virus, there are more people in the world infected with this virus than there are people that are not. It can be spread by kissing, sharing drinks, lipstick/chapstick/glosses, etc. and by eating after others. If it continues, see your doctor and you should be able to keep in under control. Good luck!

Cold sores are because of a virus. Out breaks can be the cause of many things including stress, types of food, ect. If you are under a lot of stress, which most of us are, that might be the culprit. If you want to self diagnose I would just pay close attention to the things that happen prior to the break out.You might be able to narrow it down that way.

Some people just have the virus (or whatever it is) that causes this. Get something from your doctor. My friend used blistex in the blue chap stick pube whenever she feels one coming on and that seems to help her. Not sure if it will you but there are a lot of things you can do.

Cold sores are a virus, try some over the counter ointment for cold sores, a certain vitamin helps too but can't remember which one. I used to get them a lot, but they just went away. It is so irritating when you get them. hope this helps you
