Are we born from our fathers sperm or our mothers egg?

Lets say my mothers egg was fertilized by someone else other than my dad, would I come out with different genetics and still be consciously alive like I am now?

of course you would be alive. your mom is still your mom but you would just have a different genetic makeup. it would combine your mom's genetics with the other man.

Yes, you would come out with diffrent genetics. An egg is only fertized once, by one sperm.

HOWEVER, there was an episode of Grey's Anatomy, where two diffrent eggs had been fertalized by two diffrent guys, (this is how her husband knew she had been fooling around when they were separated) BUT that woman had some weird genetic situation where she had two sets of ovaries. (Most women only have one!) The babies grew at diffrent paces! So she gave birth to one in that episode and had to come back months later to bear the other. (I don't know if this can realistically happen...) But, that would be the only time when you wouldn't have the genetics of the one sperm donator.

Do you mean if your mother had made a baby with someone else other than your dad at the time they made you, would you be here ? No you would not it is that one single moment that makes everything in life what it is. If she created a different baby at the time she created you , it could not be you could it?How ever if you meant something else and I am wrong sorry , just thaught I could help I have thaught of this befor too.

you would be half your mom.. and half the other dude.. you wouldnt have any of your dad in you at all.. so it would be impossible to guess what you would be like
