Hi, I have a Fiat Stilo, the engine management light comes on, on the dash board and the car goes into limp mode.

Fiat can't really tell me what the problem is.
I have purchased the following from Fiat

Main fuse box
Accelerator pedal

I still get the same problems after being advised by Fiat to buy these.

Firstly does a replaced main fuse box need reprogramming or resetting?

Would anyone care to offer any other suggestions because Fiat are not quite sure what it could be either and I do not want to purchase anything additional until I can get a better idea what this could be.

Many thanks in advance for your help

The Stilo takes a few goes to get started, I rev it very slightly a few times trying not to get it defaulting into Limp mode. When I rev a bit harder the temp gauge goes right up to high and then settles back to normal.

Disconnect the negative battery cable for a couple minutes to clear the stored computer code.

Now drive it untill it goes back into "limp mode" and check you gages to see if there is something out of the ordinary when it goes into "limp mode"
(engine temperature, oil pressure, battery voltage, etc.)

Try replacing the fuel filter too. That may make the engine starve for gas under acceleration.

Have a look at this

I'm not too sure how much the stilo has in common with the Bravo but it might be of use... one of your answers mentions checking the fuel filter which reminded me of a Vauxhall Carlton which did exactly the same thing that your Stilo has done and that turned out to be a blocked fuel filter,-blocked by what looked like a sheet of kitchen towel!- so maybe thats worth checking out.As for the replacement fuse box you would probably need to "reset" the engine management system which is covered in the above link

Hi

What fault code or codes are stored to cause the light to come on?

Best regards
