This will be weird, but work with me.
Once I had a psychology and literature teacher who explained that "Little Red Riding Hood" was actually a metaphor for a little girl just going into puberty. "Going to her Grandma's" was a metaphor for her journey of life and trying to reach old age safely and alive. Her Red Hood was both her virginity and her menstruation cycle. The wolf, of course, was a 'wolf' who wanted to rape her. The lumberjack was the responsible, employed man who respected her virginity. The wolf in some stories eats the grandma, in some stories he hides her in the closet and does not eat the grandma, but most stories agree his prime target is Little Red Riding Hood, and destroying her virginity. Oh, we had big fights with our teacher on how or who turned a simple children's story into such a lame metaphor, but in the end, once I got over my shock, I could understand some of the parallels.
So the reason why he was "in a hurry to eat Grandma first", according to my teacher, was that the wolf was a dangerous sex addict who was indiscriminate about his victims, and Little Red Riding Hood was wise to show both discrimination and question the truth of the identity of the false grandma before trusting her.
I told you it would be weird.

cause grandma was an easier target/meal and required less effort than red did, so that is why he went after her first. he was working smarter and not harder.
