Sounds like the rad can't handle the extra tow load...may have to have it flushed or go with a bigger radiator. Product like Water Wetter may help as a temporary solution---motor homes owners and racers use it---available at parts stores or speed shops or online.. Make sure the cooling fans are coming on and the lower air dam below the bumper is not damaged, bent or missing.

Do a cooling system pressure check to be absolutely sure you have no external or internal coolant leaks. Any garage can do it for a few bucks.
If everything checks out fine, consider an acid flush, drain, neutralize, flush again and add a new AC-Delco thermostat and radiator pressure cap. Be sure the coolant recovery bottle is clean and the hose is in good shape with the proper clamps. Water Wetter does work. Make sure the thermostatically operated fan is working properly.
Consider adding a - pusher electric fan in front of the radiator. The last suggestion would be a bigger radiator with an added row of cooling passages.

stop and check the coolant level in it ,if its full it could be a thermostat sticking a little or a water pump going bad on it,gm,s was good for water pumps, they wont leak when they go bad most of the time they just don't circulate the coolant good enough to keep the vehicle cool enough, good luck with finding it.

Make sure you are not pulling the trailer in overdrive. It will be shifting up and down all the time. Check transmission fluid for burn smell.
