I do. But then I'm a freak and find myself intrigued by some of the things the directors have to say about the movies as they are being made. Does anyone else ever go back to a movie & watch it again just to listen to the commentary?

Yes, I was watching "Beauty and the Beast" and playing with the buttons on my dad's DVD remote (it was the first DVD player in the house, and I just wanted to know what the buttons meant) and all of a sudden, these guys started talking. I didn't know what I had done. The commentary on "Beauty and the Beast" was surprisingly funny and enlightening. That got me started on actually listening to commentaries, I can't remember all the ones I've listened to, but my favorites are the aforementioned "Beauty and the Beast" and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."

absolutely. The commentary can add to the entertainment value of the film. The commentary is secondary to the meaning that I get from a film. Jean Luc Goddard used to give different answers to the same questions because he wanted viewers to accept the film on it's own without his influence.

Only on my favorite ones. The ones I will watch more than once. And it always seems that the movies that should have them never do, either because the director never does commentaries (like Spielberg) or he/she has been dead for years (David Lean, Mervyn LeRoy, etc.)

I've watched Clerks with it.. but I think that was the only one I watched all the way through.. I do generally watch the extra features/deleted scenes etc. with commentary.. it's interesting to hear why different scenes were taken out or changed

Not really. I'm more interested in the actor/actress than the director, to be completely honest.
