I just tried a tampon...it doesn't hurt, exactly, but i can feel it a little. It's like a pressure i guess. I've been using pads for four years, but I reeally want to swim today. What are tampons supposed to feel like. I thought they shouldn't be felt at all. And how long untill you should change one?

tampons sometimes can feel uncomfortable if they arn't inserted properly but don't worry bout it im sure we all had a bit of trouble using them 4 the first time. Change every few hrs depending on how your flow is.

Next time you insert the tampon, make sure you point the tampon to the small of your back, kinda where the butt dimples are. Secondly, make sure you place it deeply enough. You probably have the tampon a little too low and the nerve endings at the entrance of the vagina are really sensitive. If you let the tampon ride above that area, you shouldn't feel the tampon at all.

Having said that, if you try to take this tampon out immediately after placing it, it may be hard to remove. Once some menstrual fluid moistens it, it will slide out easier.

Remember to take the tampon out as soon as possible after swimming cause the tampon will absorb some of the pool water. You don't want those buggies in the vagina. Always a good idea to wrap a towel around you when you get out of the pool in case there is some leakage.

Good luck! Have fun.

If you have not used a tampon before then it is normal for it to be a little awkward at first. As for comfort, you should look at the different brands of tampons because some are designed to be more comfortable then others. For example, some are designed to be more absorbent yet more compact. Also look at the type of applicators that some use because that can cause irritation. Some are even designed to be inserted without an applicator.

As for time before changing them, this varies from person to person but you should make sure that you never leave one in for more than 24 hours because of the possibility of getting "toxic shock syndrome". Some people have developed dangerous infections from leaving a tampon in too long so I would recommend you learn about toxic shock syndrome so you can avoid that. Good luck and enjoy your swim:)

First, did you start with a regular or light absorbency? You probably don't have it far enough in. I would suggest taking it out and retrying but make sure you push it way in before using the applicator. Also, if you aren't heavy in your flow, sometimes they can be a little uncomforable until they are actually wet. I know a little TMI but I know where you are coming from, I wore pads for years before going to tampons. I only like the plastic applicators like Playtex and find the cardboard ones like Tampax VERY uncomfortable.

You probably have on the wrong size for the absorbancy you need and that's why you feel it. The body pushes out what it doesn't need. If you have on a super tampon, try a regular, or if you have on regular try a slim one. There are packs of tampons which have differing sizes. Your flow must be low today. This sensation is normal. Try changing to a smaller size.

Well one thing you may be using to big of one and that is why it might hurt. Try to go a size smaller but know if you go smaller then you have less adsorbing from it. You would have to change like every hour for the smaller one. And for the bigger ones maybe 2-3 hours. Never exceed 4 hours with one. Also you should always feel a little pressure only because it has to expand to your opening. Good luck!

You might feel it a little right now cause you are a little nervous...it might not be in all the way. Make sure you are relaxed whe you inserting it. If you are having trouble maybe even try a little KY jelly on the tip of the tampon. Also make sure you are using the right absorbancy. If you are not bleeding really heavy use slender. Change every few hours.

When a tampon is inseted properly, you shouldnt feel it all at. it should actually feel pretty decent. but it takes some practice so yes it might feel a little bit uncomfortable at first. you should change tampons every 2-3 hours depending on how heavy your flow is.

4-6 hours before next changing, depending on your flow today. I don't think you put it far enough in. Try again with a new one if the pressure continues. It's also new to you, so it'll feel weird for quite some time until you ajust (sp?). Most of my tampon using friends say, "1 time it'll hurt. 2nd time will still hurt. 3rd time feels really weird. 4th time you won't feel a thing."

It sounds like you didn't push it in all the way because you really shouldnt feel it. Make sure the entire upper portion of the applicator is inside you first before pushing the tampon out of the applicator.
