All of the answers, "to make money", "to be happy", "to set the world up...", "to discover", "to learn", "To live"., "to experience life", "to gain knowledge and wisdom" and "to expand the mind". All of these are just ways that we use to make us feel good about ourselves. In the back of our minds, we imagine the praise we would get for doing those things and that imagined praise feels good.

In the absence of real purpose, all we can do is to select some things that give us good feelings.

Real purpose can only come from God. Here's a quote from atheist Bertrand Russell (noted 20th century philosopher):

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.”

If we allow that God might exist, then God must have put our need for purpose into our nature to point us to seek Him. In that case, seeking God is our purpose.

I don't believe there is a purpose to life. I was thrust into it, and when I die, in a couple of generations all of my accomplishments will be scat; clown shoes; nothing. So, I'll do want I want, and it's not my purpose to do so. Why? Because I could have always done otherwise.!

I actually have a philosphy of life.

It is that you should always take life as it comes to you but do not force it upon yourself.

It's supposed to mean that you should be happy and appreciate the way things sometimes are, but you should not make good things come to you. I hope that makes sense to you. I try to live by it. I actually thought of it myself.

I also personally believe that you should not care about yourself last on your list. It is important to care about other people, but people have their OWN lives to take care of their own first. If everyone cared about each other, then what would be the point of being ourselves?

There are two purpose of life one is as stated by Give Blodd, "human has is to reproduce so the species can go on. "

The second is the knowledge, we have to gain and spread the knowledge as much as we can. There is nothing greater then the knowledge. Why is God, God? because he knows everything.

Nope. I'm a Christian, so the purpose of my life is to glorify God -- to do what I can to make sure He has a good reputation among those who know me -- and to serve Him, and to encourage others to do the same.

God really does have a plan and purpose for each person's life. It is wonderfully fulfilling to know this and to find what He has in store for you. It beats all the money, happiness, and anything else the world has to offer. Those are kind of hollow, it seems to me.

The ONLY purpose a human has is to reproduce so the species can go on. There is no purpose after that is done.

To LIVE. To experience life, to gain knowledge and wisdom, to expand my mind. And to live for as long as I can, soaking in all that life has to offer!
