Brown is compatable with many colors and depending on the skin tone of the personb wearing it, it can go very well with yellow, orange, and purple. I also thing it goes well with beige, dark greens, gold, and navy.
I would say that if it is a vest, wearing it with a shirt without sleeves would be a no-no. Maybe try a 3/4 sleeve shirt if you don't want to wear really lobng sleeves, or maybe a cap sleeve tee. I personally don't like the puffer vests, because they make me look funny, but good luck to you!

Dark [ coffee ] brown goes with everything except gray or black.
All brights, pastels, and jewel tones look great with it.
Wear it with any shirt with sleeves - short, long, or intermediate. Wearing it with sleeveless makes you look confused.
PS: please don't call them 'beater' shirts - it really disrespects and diminishes people who have been victims.
Either tanks, or camis.

well i would advise you to wear it with long sleeve shirt because it looks kind of odd to have a short sleve shirt while wearing a vest, but i would advise to go with ligh colors but White would go exelent with the vest
