Can you download Sims skins on any version of The Sims or only Sims2?

With both games, Sims 1 and Sims 2, you can download skins, but you can't interchange them. If you are playing Sims 1, you have to download skins for Sims 1, if you are playing Sims 2 you have to download skins for Sims 2.
