You are required to have WC. But, only for companies above a minimum number of employees. And, this minimum may be different from state to state. In other words, with 2 employees, you may not be required to carry it. You'll have to check with the state of LA. Go to the state's official website and click on the BUSINESS link.

you have one of two options here, become a partnership with your sons, this will allow the three of you to work without the work/comp.other wise you have no other option than to pay for work/comp.also when theres no work/comp involved your premiums will be quite a bit lower.goog luck,as i,ve been roofing fo 25 plus years

confident, you may desire to purchase merely the GL. yet do no longer wager on your own scientific well-being coverage masking injuries that are "workers compensable". maximum have exclusions for paintings proper injuries. and whether they do no longer, if this is your organization, and a son is injured, his well-being insurer can SUE YOU for all of the scientific costs. And God Forbid he gets killed, his spouse/little ones can SUE YOU for misplaced wages for something of his existence. and that they are going to win. no longer having workers comp does not get a company proprietor off the hook for workers comp advantages - scientific money and misplaced wages are nonetheless due the injured guy or woman. Their scientific well-being coverage company IS entitled to repayment of scientific money. Or their sources. and that they could't sign those rights away. do no longer have faith me? communicate it with your criminal expert.

I'm not an expert, but I believe that you are required to have workers comp. If you land any larger jobs w/ any businesses, they are probably going to have it in their contracts that they require you to have it.
