By train will be easiest, by bus is also possible, and you can even fly, most likely, but I doubt it is worth the money and effort.

A look at a map shows that Strasbourg in France in on the edge of the Forest.
Amsterdam-Strasbourg gives several connections per day, some normal trains, some partly high-speed trains.

I find info on a German train planner, that would take even less time, the travel would be via Cologne and Frankfurt, mostly highspeed trains:

I have taken Baden Baden for this search.

You can do your own search with these sites.
Also for the last leg to Munich.

For bus journeys, cheaper but much slower, see this site:

I'd prefer going by train. There are some direct connections from Amsterdam to Karlsruhe, Baden-Baden, Offenburg or Freiburg (and many more if you don't mind changing trains). For details and fares look at

Each city allows easy access to the Black Forest; the city centre of Baden-Baden is actually located in the Black Forest, and Freiburg is directly at the border.

My personal recommendation: don't use the (more expensive) high speed trains between Cologne and Frankfurt (passing mostly tunnels), but go via Koblenz and Mainz instead. That route will lead you along the Mittelrhein (a part of the Rhine River), a beautiful valley which became UNESCO World Heritage of Nature. If you have time take a river cruise from Cologne to Mainz.

From either Karlsruhe or Freiburg there are direct train connections to Munich. The train from Freiburg is rather slow but passes through scenic southern Black Forest and goes almost along the northern part of the alps.

Of course you could also look for flights, although that way you'll miss the scenery. E.g. Easyjet offers cheap flights from Amsterdam to Basel / Mulhouse / Freiburg - Airport.
