1] who's paying for college?
2] who's paying for the car
3] who's paying for the dorm?
When you turn 18, you can do whatever you want - AND your parents don't have to take care of you any more - no food, clothing, shelter, medical, or education for you required!
Turning eighteen is NOT a sign of responsibility, far from it.
Following house rules, going to church, being respectful to parents, are signs of responsiblity.
Getting good grades is responsible.
Not drinking or doing drugs is responsible.
Having a job and saving a good percentage of that money is responsible.
Doing chores, helping around the house without being reminded is responsible.
Chronological age has nothing to do with it.

well..even though you are 18..its not some magic age where when you turn 18 you can just treat your mom how ever you want..but i would say yes..you should technically be allowed to make your own decisions..but remember...shes paying for your college education (im assuming..or helping)..so treat her good =) and i don't think having a boyfriend who is a year older than you is a big deal..my boyfriend is 2 years older than me..like when i was 17 he was 19..and we are doing just fine..its all on maturity level..personally i like older guys..because they are on the same maturity level as me..jsut tell her that if she has a big issue with it..well good luck with college and life and such.

Sweety just because you're turning 18 does not mean you should do whatever you want. You don't have to follow your mom's rules but don't exclude her out of your life just because you're able to make your own decisions. That's not a sign of responsibility.

You are responsible, you're on honor roll, your boyfriend is the same age, and you sound very well rounded. You're not legally an adult though, so you should still follow her rules.

The day you move out is the day you can stop listening to your mom's rules.

For as long as you live under her roof, paying or not, feeding yourself or not, 18 or 92, you must abide by her rules.

if you're in a dorm and not living with your parents then you don't have to follow their rules anymore. at 18, you are a legal adult, so you can do what you please. I'm 16 and smart enough to make responsible decisions, so hopefully you're smart enough too.

Yes, of course you are, you'll be an adult. You don't have to follow your moms rules when you don't live with her, unless you want to or something.
