These impressive arthropods are not only found in the Amazon jungle, but they also thrive on the islands of Trinidad and Jamaica. They are becoming a favorite among exotic pet owners worldwide, but extreme care must be taken while handling them due to the fact that the slightest trace of the venom can cause a reaction on the skin. Fortunately, the poison from the Scolopendra gigantea is insufficient to kill a healthy human adult. The alarmingly massive centipede can, however, cause symptoms such as local sharp pain, swelling, chills, fever, weakness, and uncontrollable running-away-and-screaming.

I've seen these centipedes under damp rocks and wet logs in the woods in Pennsylvania my whole life. They don't get more than 2 inches long, but the one in the video seems larger, and the latin/scientific name probably means it's huge so I am guessing Florida or somewhere south and halfway tropical. Go to the library and check out the encyclopedia's (no sound on my p.o.s. computer so I didn't hear the audio/where it lives)

Well, if you had listened instead of squealed like a little girl, you would have heard they live in the tropics. Cool video, thanks!

Well...unless you live somewhere where tarantulas are an indigenous species...don't worry about it.
