Telus risk-free practices could supply the path to the area of the virus it rather is maximum possibly in the Registry. To get right of entry to the Registry in Win XP click onto the beginning up button, click on the Run container and form in regedit and click on ok. in the Registry take the path to the locaion of the virus and delete it.

I found this once with Ad-Aware and it completely removed it from my computer. Ad-Aware is better than Spybot in my opinion.

turn off system restore, many viruses hide in the archives and most programs are not allowed to access the archives

run your cleaning programs then reboot and turn system restore back on again

if this fails you will have to search for entries pertaining to the offender in the registry but thats topic for another question

Try Spybot Search & Destroy that will remove it.

EDIT: adaware's new version is awful. I had it on my computer before and it didn't detect anything. It also got a 2/5 in pc magazine.

You could always format your hard disk - that always gets rid of everything. Make sure you copy all your improtant data to an external hard disk and have a boot disk ready though!
